Summer 2006

Oh wow it has been awhile since I updated. Ok, so this summer.....where'd it go? Damn fast, that's all I know. It was fun, though I didn't really go anywhere (except for Phoenix to work many times). I learned (sort of) to wakeboard, got rid of the Civic, worked alot......and that's really about it I suppose. It's funny, it seems like no time has passed at all since I wrote my last post, but the same amount of time seemed to last eons when I was in elementary school over summer vacation....and now I spend the whole damn thing working. Oh well.... on to pictures. Those are more fun anyways.

This is the new Jeep. It's a 2000 Wrangler Sahara with the hard top, Top and rear swing-away Wilderness Racks, Fabtech lift (4" or so I think), and Dick Cepek FC II tires. A little different from the Civic, but it's fun. I can't wait for it to cool off so I can take the top off and get out to Red Rock and do a little off-roading.

And another.

And the last one...ok, on to something else.

Me. In the air. On a wakeboard. Doesn't happen often (I didn't land this).

The midwest has nothing on southwestern skies....oh yeah....except rain.

This definitely isn't me. But it makes for a great picture.

The house with everything in full bloom for the summer. Oh wait, it looks like this in January too.

Well, that's it. I need some more pictures to put on here. I'll have to work on that. How about in another 3 months or so?

562 days since I joined Xanga? Wow...I think it's been about that long since I posted anything either. Well.....right now, I've got nothing, because I need to take some pictures to go with the update. Perhaps tomorrow.

The people demand an update, eh Joe? Ok, fine, I suppose it's been long enough. I'll throw in some pictures to boot. Actually, it'll mostly be pictures. If you hadn't noticed, I don't type a whole lot.

Gabrielle and I at our friend's suite at the Rio. Note the view in the background, the room wrapped all the way around the side of the hotel, and I mean the entire side. You could see from the northwest corner to the southwest corner of the valley. We were here for our friends Mark and Lisa's wedding. It was a good time, the Rio garden is very nice, and open bars are always good.

Gabrielle and I at the restaurant 3950 at Mandalay Bay. We went with Steve and Monica and had a wonderful time. It was a small restaurant, which I liked....very small staff but still with excellent service. The picture you see was our dessert. A hand-blown candy orange filled with some kind of Grand Marnier cream with chocolate ganache on the side. It was a very, very good dinner and a great time. (as a side note, before Steve and Monica got there I had a glass of Glenmorangie scotch, which was excellent and $14 per glass)

The first of many pictures of our puppy, Gus. For anyone that doesn't know (and I imagine there's very few), we have a golden retriever puppy named Gus. He's now about 5 months old. This is a picture from the old apartment after a bath. I forgot about the "wet dog" smell.

Ok, I wasn't actually sleeping. But it makes a good picture, if that dog could keep his head down.

Massive puppy paws. Look at the size of these things compared to Gabrielle's hands. And that was weeks ago. He's going to be a big guy.

And a front/side view of the new house. I can't describe how much better this is than our old apartment, and for not all that much more money. Gus loves it too, he has room to play in our back yard...err...back area full of rocks (most of us don't have "yards" here in Southern Nevada).

Kind of a mixed view looking into the living room. The opening on the far right goes into the master bedroom, and the windows there on left is where the kitchen is at. The ceramic tile is great for keeping the house cooler, less messy, and it looks great. It's in all rooms except the bedrooms which are carpet and the den which is hardwood.

The kitchen and sliding door to our back yard. Probably the only thing I wish we had was a little more counter and cabinet space. But oh well, you can't be too picky, and I still really like it.

Gus out in the back with his beloved palm frond (which fell off a neighbor's tree into our yard before moving in). This corner is Gus's relaxation area, probably because it's shaded by the neighbor's trees. He brings everything out here, including his toys, bones, our clothing, cd cases, etc. He doesn't chew our things out here, just brings them out and leaves them. The frond is now just a dried out pile of green stuff and a long stick he likes to chew on.

Probably one of my favorite Gus pictures. Though, I'm not sure why he likes staring into the sun.

Gus's collection of toys by his frond. He has now destroyed the orange and multi-colored ones. Doesn't he know those cost money??

Gus with his toys. I apologize for all the Gus pictures, but between vet bills, toys, food, adoption fee, extra security deposit, etc we've spent alot of money on him and damned if I'm not going to get my entertainment value out of him.

The den. I look busy here with the phone and computer, but I assure you, I'm doing absolutely nothing productive.

The living room/dining room with some actual stuff in them.

The kitchen with some actual stuff in it. I'm particularly fond of the wine rack on top of the fridge. Not sure why, either.

The garage. Not exciting, but hey, I like having one and it's my website, if you don't like it take your toys and go home.

The front yard with what they like to call "desert landscaping". Fine with me. Actually, I prefer it. It's a desert, if you want grass, move elsewhere and quit wasting our limited water supply. I also like the fact that each plant has it's own sprinkler which is all timed, so I have to do......nothing.

Gabrielle with the little guy after getting a bath. He got outside and it was still pretty cold at night at that point, and wouldn't stop shivering. It's the only time he's allowed us to wrap him up in a blanket like this.

More of the same. He was a sleepy little guy that night. (as he is most nights after 8pm or so, of course, at 5am he is hyper and ready to go)

My friend Mark and I with our dogs. Gus is smaller.....for now. We watched their dog, Maggie, while they were on their honeymoon. They dogs got along great, in fact, they kept each other entertained, which was nice.

This rope toy was about the size of Gus when we first got him. He's big enough to play with it now. I have a feeling he's going to be able to tear it out of my hand when he's fully grown, he's pretty strong now.

Me, Gus, and Maggie on the kitchen floor. You'll might note Gabrielle painted the kitchen since moving in. I'm still no good at matching (note my khaki shorts and faded out black shirt, a staple for the past 5 years), so I have no idea what she's talking about when she describes what she wants to do for colors, but once it's done, it always looks good.

Well, that's about it for now. There's lots more pictures of Gus and the house but hopefully that'll give a pretty good idea. And now no one can give me a hard time for not updating for another month or so. Hopefully I can get some picutures of Gabrielle and I waterskiing and wakeboarding out at Lake Mead (a friend from work bought a boat and we've been out a few times, and hopefully we can get out quite a few more times this summer). Tristan (my friend with the boat) apparently has a pretty comical one of me waterskiing, so I'll have to try to get that on here. Anyway, I hope everyone's doing well, talk to you later.

Take a Look in the Mirror
By Korn

Well, it's been awhile since I posted on here. Mostly because I started a Myspace page and I'm sure everyone can figure out that I can barely keep up with updating one of these things. Anyway, if you'd like to check it out, click here. Turn your sound on too, it's got one of the new Korn singles playing. I need to buy that cd sometime here. So what's new. The biggest thing I suppose is that I got myself promoted, which is good stuff. I can now be held responsible for all the money I spend. More seriously though, it's a fairly substantial raise, bonuses, stock options, and now I can start working on getting to the next level of Senior Buyer. I'm hoping to get that accomplished in 12-18 months, which is a fairly quick goal. Other than that, hopefully (fingers crossed) Gabrielle and I will be moving in the near future into a house. I'm hoping we get the one we are looking at right now, it's in the Southern Highlands area, which is probably one of the nicest areas in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately I do not think we will be going to Kirkwood to go skiing this weekend, which I suppose is ok. I was just looking forward to getting out a little more this year. Oh well, there's always next winter I suppose. I did get to get out to Mammoth that one time which was great. The only downside is that it made me want to do it more. Tristan has been out there for the last couple of days, that bastard. (Tristan is a guy I work with, the one in my Mammoth picture update eating the sour gumballs)
I suppose that's mostly it. I'm sure there's lots more, but I'm not really the person that types alot in here. I haven't even had a substantial update since I got back from Mammoth. Later!
